For over four decades I have been a rail and bus photographer.
However, during this time I have aimed the lens at other subjects, be they different transportation, scenery, buildings and other bollocks.
Given these do not really fit the scope of my other sites, I felt compelled to set up a new site so as to inflict my other photographic garbage upon the world.
While primarily Philippine and Australian content, there will be the occasional forays into Fiji and Hong Kong. Perhaps other locations should the current pandemic ever allow it.
So sit back and enjoy, or hate, even be indifferent. That choice is purely up to you.

QUEENSCLIFF FERRY - 15-5-2021

Does not seem all that long ago that Jason and I were spending time around Sydney Harbour saying farewell to our last two beloved Lady class ferries, HERRON and NORTHCOTT. A couple of days travelling back and forth to the Taronga Zoo wharf, and visiting a few locations to get them passing.

Now, in 2021, we find the government wishing to violate another harbour icon, with the removal of the Freshwater class ferries (reduced to half the fleet after a huge outcry).

The decision to back down from removing the whole class means that both FRESHWATER and COLLAROY will remain for weekend and holiday use, when loadings are far in excess of what the small replacements are likely too easily handle.

QUEENSCLIFF was the second Freshwater class to enter service, doing so on July 9th, 1983.
They were built at the State Dockyard in Newcastle.

Two important Sydney Harbour icons.
QUEENSCLIFF passes the Sydney Opera House as it approaches the Circular Quay terminal.

A look around QUEENSCLIFF.

Freshwater Class

Length: 70.4 metres
Beam: 13.06 metres
Displacement: 1,140 tons when loaded.
Decks: 2
Capacity: 1,100

Our day was over, but a protest in the city saw out light rail plans changed, thus giving us a chance to bet a bonus late arvo shot of QUEENSCLIFF headed off to Manly again.

Thanks to Jason Anthony
